NAIJA AND THE INTERNET Article by PWB Reader - CHECK IT OUT

The internet has done no good than harm to this generation our children are now being exposed to the British way of life, we are Africans, bound by our customs and tradition, we have culture, the youth should be ban from using the internet,

No to facebook, No to social Media…….. I sat down in the congregation listening to the agitated speaker as he vent his anger what could be the reason behind his hatred for the internet, he sounded as one who’s judgment was clouded with revenge, but then again  if  u ask me, it is wrong to say the internet has done no good than harm in the society, yes we know the internet is got its bad sides like easy access to pornography, virus and malicious software  that could affect our home and office computers, fraud, online stacking e.t.c

        I can liken the internet to a sugar which has its nutritional benefit when taken moderately and intense repercussions when abused, but then again the internet has made life easier for us. Isn’t it amazing how we could send mail a to love ones million miles away and with just a seconds the messages are delivered read and replied, think about how long it would take the poster service to deliver this mails, let even assume the local mail service is very effective, not forgetting video conferencing.

 Skype has helped strengthen distance relationship making it feel almost unbelievable that your loved ones are million miles away. How about access to museums and libraries across the world, instant access to the latest news and event, instant access to friends, families and business associates through email, instant messaging , video conferencing. Online shopping without the stress of going to the mall, costumers information on products you are buying, entertainment, a source of livelihood e.g blogging e.t.c, the advantages of the internet cannot be over emphasized it has even made education a lot easier and has helped student even with their assignment . So nursing the though the internet has done no good than harm in the society is totally outrageous.

Yes Nigeria was ranked 7^th in the world among the country which searches for pornography that doesn't mean we all do!!!! The contents of the internet are only harmful to those who cannot control their below belt faculty… everything is got its bad side, but then again does the Internet bring these pornography pictures to their face?? Hell NO!  They are the once who search for these things either because they aren't well tutored, peer pressure or curiosity…….

It is safe and most preferable u say the internet is a love/hate thing, I love the fact I could get information at my convenience and do certain thing without much stress even make a living via the internet but then again I hate all the harmful things there..  the best we can do is educated ourselves and young ones on how best we can use the internet without so much harm..
